First Aid Council For Training
A new name..... a new approach..... but with the experience of 15 years!
A group of independent training providers attending the Harrogate conference way back in 1994 saw the need for an independent body to represent their interests and to liaise with the Health & Safety Executive and other government bodies. The Association of Independent First Aid at Work Training Organisations was born!
The Association was the first of its kind and once established, it became possible for the Association to meet on an equal footing with the Voluntary Aid Societies in order to further the development of First Aid training and present a cohesive, industry wide approach to issues affecting it. The Association has also been a key player in discussions with like minded trade associations.
So having achieved our initial objectives we are now building on solid foundations taking on new challenges and moving on with a new name and new logo. This achievement has been recognised by the award of an MBE to our President Peter Pocock.
As an organisation, FACT does not facilitate courses but all members have Health & Safety Executive approval to run all First Aid courses including First Aid At Work. As well as being monitored by the Health & Safety Executive at regular intervals FACT carry out independent monitoring to ensure training provided by members is of the highest standard. Members also receive regular updates and newsletters and can attend training days and workshops for continuing professional development.
FACT members are located in all parts of the country and run courses both for individuals and for organisations. Should you need a course, please use the course finder provided or alternatively contact our Secretariat.
